My Voyage into Unknown Waters....

Welcome to my very first SL blog. My hope is to bring at least one person from the SL fashion darkside, into the light.

I'm Kyria, aka, Ky. I've been an SL girl for two years off and on, and I've managed to learn a lot about prim placement, seams, and overall buildng in general.

This is what I normally look like....
I own more jeans than anybody else I know in SL.
Here's what I know about fashion in SL. You are sometimes required to wear less clothing than you normally would in your real life. Here's what I know about life, just because you can doesn't mean you have to.
There is such an outstanding supply of clothing in SL that you can wear anything you want. It's completely possible to be a cheerleader one day, and a goth chick the next. The freedom is almost enough to make you giddy.
I have a number of "go-to" stores that I don't miss when they say they have something new.
1. Pixeldolls (Port Seraphine 129,93,258)- They've got a huge variety of everything! It's incredibly newbie friendly as well, you can buy some great skins for 50L in the Sin Skin section. Nephaline is also famous for her freebies. As a newbie, I raided it weekly.
2. Style Starts Here (Style Starts Here 116,129,29)- Simone Stern is a goddess. That's really all there is to it. The loveliness of her prim skirts is unbelievable. They move...well...like skirts! I've also always loved the overall texture. Recently, she's dropped most of her Style line to 80L. Needless to say, I'm overrun with Simone designed products.
3. Shiny Things (Shiny Falls 173,181,37)- Just like Simone, I'm pretty much sold on all the textures and detail of Shiny Things Shoes. The minute details that go into these shoes! It just makes my head explode! (Not literally, obviously.) If you buy up all the shoes, you can move on to jewelry and flowers... The clearance room in the back has shoes for 100L a pair, and well worth it.
4. Calla (Calla 128,110, 36)- Never have a bad hair day again! Updos, long, short, men...whatever! One thing I've never cared for with SL hair is the spiky wierd ends. The only time you get that with Calla hair is if it's part of the style. Also, like the others, a clearance attic. 100L in the attic for a set of shades.
5. Eolande's (Ohana Isle 196, 60, 22)- I never squee over hair jewelry...ok, hardly ever. The most delicate, elegant, lovely, (add another adjective here) hair jewelry on the SL planet comes from Eolande's. Many of them are made to go with Calla hair, so bonus!
A few things I want to do with this blog are find some men's clothes that are decent, bring some notice to some of the great new designers, and expand some horizons on where to shop.
There are many shops that weren't on my top five, and that doesn't mean they aren't splendid. I've always liked /artilleri/, ETD, Canimal, Draconic Kiss, Silent Sparrow, and Nyphetamine. I've recently discovered Sari's, Apple May Designs (who just opened a huge, beautiful new store), and Zaara.
If you know of any stores you feel are overlooked, please IM me inworld and I'll check them out and try them out!
